With cumbersome usability and limited support options, ElephantDrive is hardly a forerunner among online storage services. Yet the service nabs a spot in our lineup for a few redeeming qualities, including excellent security and decent storage plans.

ElephantDrive’s base plan offers 30GB of storage, an amount most users will find sufficient. If you need more space, the service provides a total of six different plans to choose between. Like most data storage services, this one provides remote access to stored files from any web browser, including on mobile devices. You can share stored files by creating custom links or sending them via email directly to recipients.

We also applaud the data storage service’s powerful security measures employed to safeguard data. All transactions that occur on the site (e.g., file uploads and downloads) are protected with SSL encryption, and files in rest are encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption. Furthermore, password-protected accounts add an additional layer of security.
Our biggest complaint with ElephantDrive is the service’s lack of usability. It has a steeper learning curve than most of the cloud storage services we reviewed, with a cumbersome interface that lacks intuitiveness and polish, and a backup process that is convoluted and at times hard to understand.

We were likewise unimpressed with ElephantDrive’s support options. The service doesn’t provide telephone support and their response times to emails can span several business days. This is simply unacceptable for a data storage service, as responsive and prompt support should be a cornerstone of any online storage service. There is plenty of useful information available, but the page lacks organization and finding information relevant to your issue can be difficult.
