eSnips takes a slightly different approach to online storage and would be better referred to as a social sharing service versus an online storage service. Because eSnips offers many features found in an online storage service and is an overall excellent site, we decided to include it in this review. However, the fact that it wasn't designed for online storage means that it lacks some of the important functionality you'll find in other services. This is the main reason eSnips didn't rank higher.
eSnips offers a free account and it provides five gigabytes of storage. That works well if you only need a little space for personal documents. But if you need more than that, there is no way to expand your account, so the eSnips service is only really useful for users that want to share personal photos, videos and documents.
Through eSnips, you can upload your files for safe storage and access them from any computer. The forte of eSnips is the file sharing feature. You can share your files publicly or privately and search other people’s files by category. eSnips allows you to create an extensive profile as part of your account and network with other members. The interface is designed to encourage interaction between members.
Your account is password protected and eSnips uses SSL encryption to protect data transmissions.
The interface is simple to use; you can become familiar with the service in no time. eSnips has tutorials, a user manual and FAQs to teach you the ins and outs of their website and interface. If you have questions, you can contact customer support by email.
If you aren't interested in sharing your files publicly or need more than 5GB of storage, try one of the top 3 products: SugarSync, Box.net and Mozy.
